What does Goodness Gift do? We sell gift boxes. Why do we do it? Because we believe people on the autism spectrum deserve the chance to thrive.
Goodness Gift is a social initiative developed by the SAAAC Autism Centre in response to the lack of training and employment opportunities available to young adults on the autism spectrum.
We train and employ young adults on the autism spectrum who are currently out of school in all aspects of our company, from order processing to inventory management to the packaging and delivery of goods. We believe the skills and confidence they earn will help them increase their independence and participation in the community.
Life after school can be bleak for young adults on the autism spectrum. Many of them experience what is called the “services cliff”, where they are cutoff from the support system both school and the children’s system has given them. With this lack of support, young adults on the autism spectrum experience high rates of unemployment and mental health issues.
We know people on the autism spectrum have many unique strengths to offer. The work we provide at Goodness Gift gives them vital skills and experience, allowing each of them to nurture their individual strengths and increase their feelings of independence and self-worth.
